TORONTO – The Canadian Hockey League (CHL) in association with the SUBWAY® restaurant chain today announced an expanded corporate partnership deal that includes a new title sponsorship agreement as part of a three year extension.
The CHL will kick off the season by naming SUBWAY® as the title sponsor of the SUBWAY® Super Series. A six game event in cities across Canada this November, the series will feature regional teams of CHL All-Stars competing against the Russian National Junior Team.
“SUBWAY® has been an outstanding corporate partner for the CHL and we are very excited with their expanded commitment to the league as title sponsor of the SUBWAY® Super Series,” said CHL President David Branch. “The CHL looks forward to once again showcasing the rivalry between Canada and Russia and events such as this are only possible with the commitment of corporate partners like SUBWAY®.”
In addition to the SUBWAY® Super Series, the SUBWAY® chain will continue to maintain a strong presence at each of the CHL National Events as Associate Partner of the Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game, and the MasterCard Memorial Cup. The brand will also maintain high visibility in rinks across the CHL through in-ice logos and rink board advertisements.
SUBWAY®, a corporate partner of the CHL since the 2005-06 season, continues to be recognized as the “official sandwich of the Canadian Hockey League.”

The SUBWAY® Super Series is an integral part of the identification process for Canada’s National Junior Team. The 2009 event marks the seventh consecutive year that CHL teams have competed against the Russian National Junior Team in a six game series and will continue to be played with two games in QMJHL, OHL, and WHL centres. Last season, the CHL won five of the six games in the series. The CHL will begin announcing locations for the 2009 SUBWAY® Super Series later this week.
