Humboldt defenceman Brady Wacker has been named SJHL Player Of The Year.
With 82 points, Wacker is the SJHL representative for CJHL Player Of The Year.
Wacker also won the SJHL Top Defenseman Award. Notre Dame Hounds forward Rylan Schwartz was the scoring champion and Most Valuable Player. He’s off to Colorado College in the fall.
Rylan’s younger brother Jaden was selected SJHL Rookie of the Year. He has a verbal commitment to Colorado College, scheduled to start a year later than Rylan.
Another statistical award is the Top Goaltender, which went to Andrew Bodnarchuk, of the Broncos. He had a 2.31 goals-against average. Travis Bosch, of Melville, led the league in wins, minutes played, and save percentage. He was 0.05 behind Bodnarchuk in goals-against average.
Weyburn’s Preston Shupe won the Graham Christie, which goes to the player who provides inspirational leadership and dedication to teammates both on and off the ice.
He gets a $500 bursary from the Christie family.
Shupe also won the RBC Scholarship Award.
Yorkton defenceman Greg Coburn took home the Kresse-Kruger-Mantyka Award for showing a high degree of hockey proficiency combined with excellent academic standard.
He has a scholarship to Union for next year.
Hockey Ministries International gave Hound goalie Kraymer Barnstable the Roger Neilson Award, and CFAR 590’s Rob Hart won the Media Award.
Humboldt head coach Dean Brockman is the first ever bench boss to win three straight SJHL Coach Of The Year awards. He nosed out Jamie Fiesel of Melville.
