    WINNIPEG SAINTS
The Saints are the hottest team in the MJHL.

Back-to-back-to-back wins over over the division-rival Winkler Flyers and a 4-3 over the second-place Selkirk Steelers gave the Saints (24-6-0-3) a 17-game streak without a regulation-time loss.

The last time the Saints left a game without at least a single point was Oct. 18 aftera 4-1 setback to the Flyers.

By far the top offensive club in the league with 185 goals, the Saints are paced by league scoring leader, Winnipeg product Dan Watt (29 goals and 73 points in 31 games).

They’re also the Addison Division’s top defensive team, yielding just also top defensive squad in the division, surrendering 3.30 goals per game. Starting goaltender Christian Peloquin has a 2.75 GAA and .907 save percentage.

    SELKIRK STEELERS
Only the Winnipeg Saints have filled the net more often than the Steelers, who are producing 4.77 goals per game.

The Steelers (23-12-0-0), who will host the MJHL all-star weekend Jan. 24-25, had won six of seven prior to dropping a 4-3 decision to the front-running Saints Dec. 7.

Beausejour, Man., product Adam Pleskach sits third in league scoring with 29 goals and 61 points through 35 games.

    WINKLER FLYERS
The Flyers appear headed into the Christmas break in no-man’s land.

In early December, third-place Winkler held a 10-point lead over the Winnipeg South Blues, and were 12 points back of the Selkirk Steelers.

A significant winning (or losing streak) will be needed for the Flyers to change position in the Addison Division.

American Nick Lazorko continues to be the straw the stirs the drink with 28 goals and 56 points through the first
34 games.

    WINNIPEG SOUTH BLUES
The Blues haven’t beaten anyone other than the cellar-dwelling Beausejour Blades since Nov. 4 — a span of 13 games (2-11-0-0).

They’ve surrendered more than 4.5 goals per game through the first 35 tilts, which represents the second-most porous defence in the MJHL.

And the Blues (12-23-0-0) haven’t received any help from their powerplay, which is clicking at a league-worst 15.6%.

Hometown boy Evan Gravenor leads the club with 16 goals and 40 points through 35 games.

    BEAUSEJOUR BLADES
The Blades have some major work to do in the second half of the season if they hope to capture a playoff berth.

A 12-0 destruction at the hands of the Selkirk Steelers extended Beausejour’s losing streak to 10 games. In fact the Blades, the lowest-scoring team in the league, have picked up just one point in their last 15 outings and sit last in the MJHL.

Their penalty kill is successful just 67.4% of the time, which is also at the bottom of the league.

Winnipeg product Nick Stelmack paced the team with eight goals and 24 points in 31 contests. Robbie McCarthy, also from Winnipeg, has a team-high dozen goals in just 20 games.
